Cross Street Market: An Icon With A New Look

If you grew up in Baltimore, you probably know about the local icon that has nestled itself in the hearts of many Baltimoreans. Cross Street Market is a historic marketplace built in the 19th century, situated between Light Street and Charles Street. Serving ravaged Ravens and Orioles fans many Maryland staples since its inception, Cross Street Market is finally in line for a renovation.

The renovation plans to do a complete overhaul of the 31,000-square-foot market over the next year, adding more natural light to the building, reconfiguring the interior layout and shaking up the tenant mix.

After reading about the renovation we decided that we had to go check out all the delicious options the market had to offer. As soon as we opened the doors we understood why so many people flock here every day. We were bull rushed by all the smells and sights that we were presented with. After checking out all our options we made our way through the aisles to Nick’s Seafood. The crowd was insane! Hundreds of Orioles fans huddled around tables, cheering with reckless abandon. Ten minutes passed before we were able to flag down a waiter to order some food. Our mouths were watering as we placed our order, 2 pounds of King Crab Legs and a few different rolls of sushi. Almost no words were spoken once our food arrived, everyone began to dig in, devouring our meal before we knew what had happened. We hope our experience at Nick’s Seafood helps you make the decision to go visit Cross Street Market for yourself!

Let us know what your favorite Cross Street mainstay is, or what vendors you hope make it into the newly renovated market. We look forward to hearing from you guys!
